EDUCATIONAL PLATFORM FOR MEDICAL PERSONNEL<\/h2>[vc_column_text el_class=”large margin-top-10″]The Armenian EyeCare Project and the World Diabetes Foundation have been working together since 2017. The first project implemented in collaboration aimed to prevent blindness from diabetic retinopathy and other diabetes-related eye diseases in Armenia.<\/p>\n

Over the course of three years, 52,836 people were screened throughout Armenia. Of these, 16,000 people underwent diabetes retinopathy photo imaging with portable fundus cameras, and 9,257 were diagnosed with some stage of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) or Diabetic Macular Edema (DME).<\/p>\n

Additionally, more than 1,200 medical staff members, including ophthalmologists, endocrinologists, family medicine doctors, and health point nurses, received professional and\/or public education training.
