WORK WITH CHILDREN

In total, 242,037 children screened since 2004.
178,459 children screened in schools since 2004, as part of the AECP field mission in
all regions of Armenia.
• In 2018-2019, 22,669 schoolchildren’s screened in 60 schools throughout Armenia in cooperation with the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, of which 4,300 referred to specialized eye clinics for detailed examination. Based on this initiative Sample survey done (5,994 schoolchildren) and vision impairment prevalence data among children aged 6-15 estimated and published.
• In 2022-2023, 25,000 schoolchildren underwent eye screening in cooperaton with the USAID, using a new model of school screening and referral, and 1,200 of them received further examinaton and treatment in specialized eye clinics, 800 received eyeglasses.
15,909 children in the age of 4-6 screened in 205 kindergartens with AYO, 703 of them received further examinaton and treatment in specialized eye clinics, 405 received eyeglasses.
6,670 Books of Desunik, 1,200 Desunik’s Game of Sight and 20,000 handbooks for parents were distributed at schools and kindergartens all over Armenia.
